Planning a Wedding Drone Show in Sedona
In Sedona the backdrop is the whole reason the wedding is here. Ceremonies get oriented so a named formation or the rim sits behind the couple, and the rock turns the color people booked for about twenty minutes before the sun goes. Venues are resorts along the creek and private estates up the side roads. A Sedona wedding drone show begins once that light has left the stone.
What we fly is the evening’s entertainment. A grid of seventy to more than three hundred aircraft rises and holds programmed figures above the property, cued to a track the couple chose. Entry sits around $6,500. Our crews are Part 107 certified, the aviation policy carries a $10 million limit, and the company has over a thousand completed flights on record.
Sedona Venues and Airspace
Sedona Airport occupies the top of a mesa in the middle of town rather than ground out on the edge of it, so its airspace sits directly above the venues underneath. Flagstaff Pulliam covers the high country to the north. Most properties here need a LAANC authorization, or a manual FAA request where the released ceiling comes in lower than the choreography wants.
The dark sky rules deserve a straight answer. This area protects its night sky, and the local rules govern outdoor lighting on the ground rather than aircraft overhead. A show is still light in the sky, so we keep the program short, schedule it early, raise it with the venue before a date is confirmed and leave nothing installed behind. The same darkness is why a formation reads cleanly here.
Season and Timing in Sedona
Spring and fall are the only real seasons. March through May and September through November give warm days, cool evenings and a sky that behaves. Heat in the canyon is punishing by late June, and the monsoon pattern from July into September brings afternoon storms, gusts and lightning that end a flight plan on the spot.
Arizona leaves its clocks alone, so a timeline locks a year out. An early May evening below the rocks is dark near eight fifteen and the display follows dinner. Mid October is dark closer to seven ten, which fits ahead of the dancing. Forest fire restrictions shut fireworks down through the dry months, and a wedding drone light show in Sedona strikes nothing and drops nothing onto dry juniper.
