Top Wedding Venues and Locations in Martha’s Vineyard
Down island carries the volume. Edgartown holds the harbor clubs, the inns and the private houses that most destination couples picture when they book here, and Oak Bluffs adds the gingerbread cottages and a bluff above the Sound. Both towns are built tight, which means a launch position gets negotiated against neighbors, parked cars and tree canopy. Vineyard Haven sits between them and handles the arriving guests more than the ceremonies.
Up island is where the acreage is. Chilmark and West Tisbury run to farm fields, stone walls and private ponds, with hilltop sites that let a formation read against water on two sides. Aquinnah closes the island with clay cliffs and the lighthouse, the most dramatic ground on the Vineyard and the most tightly protected. Katama and South Beach give long sand frontage on the Atlantic side, though shoreline access there is governed by whoever holds the dune.
