Planning a Wedding Drone Show in Vermont

The Vermont wedding is usually a barn wedding. A hundred and twenty people, a hayfield, string lights, and a ceremony site chosen for what sits behind it. Open sky and dark surroundings are exactly what an aerial display needs, and very little light pollution means the formations read sharply from the ground. A Vermont wedding drone show tends to feel less like an add-on and more like the part people describe afterward.

Fleet sizes range from about 70 drones for an intimate field to 300 or more when a mountainside has to be filled. Packages start near $6,500. Because many Vermont venues are historic timber barns holding dry hay, open flame and pyrotechnics are off the table at plenty of them. Our drones generate no sparks and drop nothing.

Vermont Venues and Airspace

Bookings concentrate in the Mad River Valley and Stowe, the Woodstock and Quechee area, Manchester and the lower Battenkill valley, the Champlain Islands, and increasingly the Northeast Kingdom. Nearly all of it is uncontrolled Class G airspace, which makes Vermont one of the simpler states in the region to get a show approved in.

Burlington International is the main controlled area, and its airspace reaches over a number of Chittenden County venues. Rutland, Montpelier and Morrisville have smaller footprints that still require checking. Where a site falls inside controlled airspace we file through LAANC, and if the location is not eligible we submit a manual authorization request to the FAA instead. Some towns want notice of an evening event on private land, so we raise that during the site review.

Season and Timing in Vermont

Realistically the season is late May through the third week of October. Mud season closes April, and by November outdoor evening events have mostly ended. Peak foliage dates, the last week of September into early October, are the first to go statewide and often need to be held eighteen months ahead.

The clock that matters is sunset. A late June date means a wedding drone light show in Vermont starting around nine fifteen, after a long stretch of dancing. Shift the wedding to the first weekend of October and full darkness arrives near seven, so the show happens right after dinner and the reception still ends when the venue says it must. That tradeoff is worth raising with couples early, because it changes the shape of the whole evening.
